Why owners look for an alternative
Geography comes first. According to the companies themselves, Square accepts cards in eight countries: the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, the UK, Ireland, France and Spain. Toast operates in five: the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland and Australia. A café anywhere else cannot take cards through Square or run Toast.
Pricing structure is the second reason. Square for Restaurants has a free plan, but the kitchen display is not available on it, and on the paid plans it is billed per device. For a café with one till and one screen at the bar, those add-ons add up.
Where Square and Toast are stronger
To be fair, here is what they do that Ordo does not, or does more simply:
- Their own card hardware and built-in payments, so money and sales live in one system. Ordo does not process payments; guests pay on your bank terminal.
- Online ordering and loyalty in the same ecosystem as the till.
- Deeper full-service restaurant tools: Square Premium, for example, includes coursing and seat management.
- Card payments without internet: Toast keeps taking orders and cards on its devices in Offline Mode, and Square stores offline payments and processes them once you reconnect. Square recommends reconnecting within 24 hours, and payments not uploaded within 72 hours expire.
What makes Ordo different
Ordo runs as a Windows or Linux app on a computer in your café and keeps the data there. When the internet drops, it keeps selling as usual, and tablets and phones stay connected over the café Wi-Fi in a browser. Offline is a normal day, not an emergency mode.
Everything is one price: 1990 KGS a month per café, about 23 USD. That covers the till on any number of devices, a bar screen where orders appear the moment they are paid, stock by recipe with a shopping list, shifts, reports and Telegram alerts. Keep the hardware you have: 58 mm and 80 mm USB receipt printers, a cash drawer and any bank card terminal.
Your data stays with you: the database can be copied automatically every day on the computer and, if you like, to Google Drive. Updates arrive on their own, and the app offers to install them when it suits you, so it never restarts mid-shift. More than 12,000 real orders have already been moved into Ordo from a working café.
Fiscal receipts and local rules
Ordo prints regular customer receipts, not fiscal ones. In Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia and other countries where the law requires fiscal receipts, Ordo works alongside your fiscal register: orders, stock and reports run in Ordo, and the fiscal receipt comes from your register as before. Ordo does not replace it.
How to switch
Online sign-up is not open yet, so switching starts with a request.
- Send a request and reach us by WhatsApp, Telegram or email.
- Share an export of your menu and sales; we help bring over the menu, recipes and history.
- Install the app on the café computer, plug in the printer and open the till on your tablets.
- Run it free for two weeks, no card, side by side with your old system if that feels safer.

FAQ
Is Ordo a cheaper alternative to Square?
It depends on your setup. Square’s free plan has no monthly fee but no kitchen display; Ordo is 1990 KGS a month, about 23 USD, with the bar screen and every device included. Card fees then depend on your own bank.
Can Ordo take card payments?
Ordo does not process payments itself. The guest pays on your bank terminal and you mark the order as paid by card. At close, the card total matches the terminal report.
What happens when the internet goes down?
The app on the café computer keeps selling and tablets stay connected over the café Wi-Fi. The online version in a browser, without that computer, needs internet.
Does Ordo replace a fiscal register?
No. Ordo prints regular customer receipts. Where fiscal receipts are required, keep your fiscal register and use it alongside Ordo.
How do I try it?
Send a request and we will set up your café. The first two weeks are free and no card is needed.
